All Blacks vs British & Irish Lions - First Test
|
All Blacks side
1. Joe Moody (25) 2. Codie Taylor (16) 3. Owen Franks (91) 4. Brodie Retallick (61) 5. Samuel Whitelock (85) 6. Jerome Kaino (78) 7. Sam Cane (41) 8. Kieran Read (97) - Captain 9. Aaron Smith (59) 10. Beauden Barrett (50) 11. Rieko Ioane (2) 12. Sonny Bill Williams (34) 13. Ryan Crotty (26) 14. Israel Dagg (62) 15. Ben Smith (61)
16. Nathan Harris (5) 17. Wyatt Crockett (59) 18. Charlie Faumuina (47) 19. Scott Barrett (5) 20. Ardie Savea (13) 21. TJ Perenara (30) 22. Aaron Cruden (47) 23. Anton Lienert-Brown (10)
Lions side
1 Mako Vunipola 2 Jamie George 3 Tadhg Furlong 4 Alun Wyn Jones 5 George Kruis 6 Peter O'Mahony - captain 7 Sean O'Brien 8 Taulupe Faletau 9 Conor Murray 10 Owen Farrell 11 Elliot Daly 12 Ben Te'o 13 Jonathan Davies 14 Anthony Watson 15 Liam Williams
16 Ken Owens 17 Jack McGrath 18 Kyle Sinckler 19 Maro Itoje 20 Sam Warburton 21 Rhys Webb 22 Jonathan Sexton 23 Leigh Halfpenny
Both sides are pretty much as strong as they possibly can be, with only Dane Coles missing for the AB's and Vunipola missing for the Lions.
We all know how the Lions will play - box kick (OFFSIDE!), maul, ruck, scrum, try and win a penalty from either a scrum or a maul, and attempt to suffocate the All Blacks attack with their "rush" (OFFSIDE) defence.
And we all know how the All Blacks will play - move the ball side to side, stretch the defence, play with pace for the full 80 minutes, get quick ruck ball, and eventually try and blow the Lions away in the last 15-20 mins.
The key element for tomorrow night's game will be the weather. There is rain about Auckland tomorrow, but it's supposed to clear up mid to late afternoon. The Lions will, of course, hope that the rain sticks around or returns because it will undoubtedly assist with their gameplan, while naturally, the All Blacks will want a crisp, clear, dry night.
I'm just happy that it appears, for now at least, that we have a competitive series on our hands, and as long as the refs apply the laws correctly to both sides, we should have a fantastic game pitting two clearly differing approaches against each other - the power of the Lions vs the panache of the All Blacks.
Of course, Lions hopes were high in 2005 as well.
I quite possibly won't be on at all tomorrow or Sunday, as again, I have a lot of Indoor Cricket stuff to organise including final training sessions for the Provincials tournament the following week - these things don't run themselves.
So, I'm just giving you fair warning, so that you don't expect me to be posting throughout and immediately after the game.
Enjoy gents.

Maybe one day you'll be good enough, and respected for your knowledge and skill enough to be able to coach a provincial rep team in a sport mate?
I mean, there must be ONE sport where you know more than some kids?
Obviously it won't be cricket, rugby or football, but perhaps it could be a Disney sport or something?

I think that's a typical Jones kick up the arse Sold0. He's been playing well Sincks, one cracking offload so far this season too. I'd be more worried if I were Joseph.
I somehow doubt Rochford vs Southend will be full of posh cunts...

Few eye openers left out Mart... apparently Sinkler has got a lot to learn...
Hopefully gonna pop over our local club (Rochford 100 v Southend RFC) tomorrow after the Spurs game... nice local derby

Anyway, Jones has picked an interesting squad for the training camp.
Unless I'm mistaken, he's only picked 3 flankers: Robshaw, Curry and Underhill, unless he's planning on the likes of Laws or Itoje at 6. Hopefully we'll see someone new at 7 for the Autumn internationals.

'a group of posh cunts with ears taped on'
The whole 'posh cunts' thing is a fucking myth. Growing up, my local club had a mix of all sorts, from brickies to bankers, and no one gave a toss about all that bollocks.
The only people who come out with shit like this are those too scared to get out on a rugby pitch.

To be fair you was never that bothered in the 1st place... I mean didn't you coach your U10 Indoor cricket girls team instead of even watching the 1st Test?? You about as much interested in Rugby as I am in going to the Cesspit

When England play, we have to deal with a ref who favours the other side every time, because we are everyone's biggest rivals, hence even 'neutral' refs can't help themselves.
We just deal with it, though.

Well, all I can say is I'm over it Ilford.
We've already moved on.
You have to laugh though...as if the Lions were ever going to win 3-0.

The whole country thought you'd piss it 3-0, so you absolutely have something to put right.

We don't have anything to put right really. We've still only lost one series to the Lions in the entire history of the team.

You've only got to stew for another 12 years Jonah before getting the chance to put it right.

Should have won 3-0?
Ha ha
The Lions led for 3 minutes in the entire series, and were only able to escape with a draw because of the refereeing.
Nobody really believes this rubbish do they?
If so, I have some magic beans you might be interested in purchasing.

Sean O'Brien is an idiot, who should have been sent off for his forearm smash which knocked Naholo out.
The reason the Lions lost the first test was because there was a half decent referee controlling the match, not because his poor little legs were tired.
The Irish are turning into right fucking whingebags.
